Summary:
The Director of the Medical-Surgical unit is accountable for coordinating and directing Nursing activities in accordance with current practice of standards and all applicable regulatory requirements in the Medical Surgical and Swing Bed unit.
Duties include, but are not limited to, capital and operating budget development, policy development/revision, quality improvement, personnel management and staff development.
The director participates in hospital committee activity as needed and serves as a liaison between the Medical-Surgical Unit and other Departments.
Serves as Nurse Administrator on-call (as necessary) providing leadership and management to personnel during the off hours.
Directly responsible for core measure compliance, safety collaboratives (as approved), employee and physician satisfaction, and patient satisfaction.
Patients need care 24/7 and facility employees must be available to provide that care.
Employees are to care for patients regardless of the patient's personal characteristics.
Qualifications:
Graduation for an accredited Nursing School.
Bachelor's Degree preferred Desirable characteristics include at least two years of management experience in a hospital or medically related environment.
Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given.
Must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to the patient's needs and to provide care needed as described to in policy and procedure.
Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
NM RN Licensure.
BLS, ACLS, PALS Certification or obtain per policy upon hire; maintain licensure and certifications Licenses & Certifications Required C-AHA PALS C-AHA ACLS C-AHA BLS Basic Cardiac L-NM-RN License Behaviors Preferred Leader:
