Why does the job exist? The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of clerical duties in support of the Women's, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition program operations according to Federal and State policies and procedures.
This position is paid to produce WIC caseload.

How does it get done? This position will be responsible for:
Maintaining effective and efficient WIC operations in the local health office by verifying eligibility documents for WIC services.
Provide quality client services using constructs of Participant Centered Services (PCS) as required by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Perform clerical duties such as filing, typing, data entry, word processing, and other computer software applications; operate photocopiers, fax machines, and other office equipment, answer phones, make appointments, vendor monitoring, supply and pharmacy orders.
Provide quality customer service satisfaction and protects the participants and WIC agency confidentiality.
Demonstrates and supports WIC mission, vision and philosophy in delivery of all services and the ability to communicate and work with a wide variety of culturally diverse individuals.

Experience:
Fluent in both English and Spanish.
Determining income eligibility as well as, residency and program category eligibility for participants.
Determining appropriate appointments for applicants and participants.
Working with low income families.
Providing referrals to other resources available in the community.
Minimum Qualification High School Diploma or Equivalent and three (3) months of general office experience.

Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPPA) and successful completion of Clinical Laboratory Improvements Act (CLIA) courses are required within sixty (60) days of employment.
Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
Services are provided in a clinic with diverse population, many who do not speak the English language.
Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.
Travel to satellite offices, meetings, training sessions, and special events with the occasional overnight stay is required.
